APL-2000 PROCESS
APL’s epoxy lining
technology allows us to restore aging potable, HVAC and
gray water piping systems in-place, greatly extending
their useful lives at a fraction of traditional pipe
replacement costs, making it a very viable alternative
to a re-pipe.
Established in 1987, APL-San Diego began employing its
epoxy lining technology as a sole source contractor to
the United States Navy aboard its carrier vessels. The
ships' copper-nickel waste transfer and discharge piping
systems were subjected daily to extremely corrosive salt
water and chemical environments. Piping showed
significant deterioration after only a few years of
being replaced with new pipe. In shared efforts with the
Naval Research Laboratory (VA), American Pipe Lining
developed a suitable epoxy system, and has successfully
completed pipe restoration on more than
fourteen
different aircraft carriers to date (click here) and continues to
provide it’s services on newly constructed carriers and
surface fleet support vessels as well.
American Pipe
Lining's success with the US Navy brought immediate new
attention to land-based clients requiring similar
services in their buildings and underground piping
installations. Following EPA approval of its coating in
1988, American Pipe Lining began providing in-place pipe
restoration services to clients facing aging potable
water systems and poor water quality. The Company has
more recently obtained the ANSI/NSF Standard 61
Certification which has become the accepted industry
standard to replace the EPA approval for coatings used
in potable water applications. These and related
certifications have allowed American Pipe Lining, Inc.
to successfully complete work in a variety of low and
hi-rise housing developments, schools, industries and
water utilities.
The technology restores deteriorating water distribution
pipes without the costly expense and disruption of pipe
replacement. Issues of abatement, building restoration
costs, and occupant displacement are virtually
eliminated. The APL-2000 cleaning and epoxy lining
process provides a quick and permanent solution for
extending the useful life of older piping systems
diameters ½” to 8”.
NUFLOW PROCESS
In 2004 American Pipe Lining - Great Lakes acquired a
NuFlow Technologies license for Michigan. NuFlow's "no dig" drain lining system provides a cost
effect alternative to traditional pipe replacement
methods while also offering the structural strength of
new pipe. NuFlow's patented installation system allows
our technicians to restore underground pipe (1-1/2" to
12") without disturbing any surface materials such as
driveways, landscaping, porches, sidewalks, floors,
walls, roadways and parking lots while leaving utilities
undisturbed (e.g. phone, fiber optic, electrical, gas,
water). The seamless liner material allows for pipe
remediation with no joints. In 2006 NuFlow Technologies partnered with
American Pipe Lining to offer complete epoxy restoration
for both potable water and underground piping.
